A refined white porcelain gaiwan from Dehua, Fujian, with a soft matte finish and gently rounded form.
Unlike brighter, more translucent white porcelain, this piece has a warmer, softly diffused appearance. Light passes subtly through the porcelain when filled, while the matte surface gives it an almost jade-like quality and a particularly smooth feel in the hand.
The compact 150ml bowl is well suited to smaller, repeated infusions, with plenty of room for the leaves to open and a neatly fitted lid for controlled pouring.
